Adalia decempunctata (10-spot Ladybird)

Ever watchful Susan Limbrey writes:

“I was watching a Holly Blue butterfly by the house, when I saw this female Common Lizard, plus a juvenile which I couldn’t get a good photo of, popping in and out of a hole in the house wall.  When I first saw it, it was lined up vertically alongside a thick ivy stem, almost camouflaged, but I hadn’t got a camera to hand then.  I have seen them earlier in March some years, on stones in the garden, but I didn’t know they shared the house with me.”

A welcome sign of spring’s arrival.
